A carnival game allows the player a choice of simultaneously rolling two, four, six, eight, or ten fair dice. Each die has six f

aces numbered 1 through 6, respectively. After the player rolls the dice, the numbers that appear on the faces that land up are recorded. The player wins if the greatest number recorded is 1 or 2. How many dice should the player choose to roll to maximize the chance of winning?

Answer:

Roll two dices

Step-by-step explanation:

Every dice rolled has two chances of six of winning by showing a 1 or 2, which is the same as one chance of three.

On the opposite, you have four chances of six of loosing by getting a 3,4,5 or 6, which is the same as two chances of three.

Since the chances of loosing are bigger than the ones of winning, every roll makes it more probable of getting a 3,4,5 or 6, so you need to roll as few dices as possible, in this case two is the minimum allowed.

3n+4=-5

do the opposite of adding 4. this means you have to subtract 4 from 4. whatever you do to the problem, you must do to the answer. now subtract 4 from -5.

-5-4=-9

since 4-4=0, we can take 4 out of the equation. now you have:

3n=-9

now divide -9 by 3

-9/3=-3

n=-3

hope this helps :)

I'll just factor the above equation.

x² + 18x + 80

x² ⇒ x * x
80
can be:
1 x 80
2 x 40
4 x 20
5 x 16
8 x 10  Correct pair

(x+8)(x+10)
x(x+10) +8(x+10) ⇒ x² + 10x + 8x + 80 = x² + 18x + 80

x+8 = 0
x = -8

x+10 = 0
x = -10

x = -8

(-8)² + 18(-8) + 80 = 0
64 - 144 + 80 = 0
144 - 144 = 0
0 = 0

(-10)² + 18(-10) + 80 = 0
100 - 180 + 80 = 0
180 - 180 = 0
0 = 0

I think the algebra tiles will not be a good tool to use to factor the quadratic equation because the equation is not a perfect square quadratic equation.
