Though Jason have been accused of second-degree murder, he will be asked by the judge to enter a plea at some point of the trial. According to the proceedings of the court, after the arraignment, the defendant charged have to plead at least once, in the early stages.

If Jason refuses to respond on the request to plea then the judge will enter a not guilty plea on his behalf. Some defendants does not agree to plea or ask for delay plea entry because they haven't yet been able to hire a lawyer.
