How to convert linear equation into a slope intercept form

Mathematics

A standard form equation:

Ax + By = C

6x + 2y=4

Slope intercept equation:

Y = -3x + 2

In order to go from one form to another, all you have to do is change the order of the given numbers. First you want to move the Ax to the opposite side of the equation, by either adding or subtracting it. At this point your equation will be set up by =

-Ax + C

Then you want to divide B from the rest of the equation. Therefore, you will have

y = -Ax/B + C/B

This is the same thing as the slope intercept form, just a few of the letters differ.

Radar tracking station O is 40 km away from a ship at Point A. The ship travels east 45 km to point C at 30 km/h. How long will
RUDIKE [14]
First, let's find the time where the ship arrives to point C
t=d/V, t= 45/30=1.5h
if the ship's departure time is at 1.5h, on the point C, let 's find its arrival to the point O, V=D/Dt, Dt=tfinal-tinitial
Dt=D/V= 20/30=0.6h=t final -t initial, implies t final=0.6+t initial=0.6+1.5=2.1h

so the ship will be on the radar at 2.1h,

There are 171 students in seventh grade. How much does money does Mr. Williams need to budget for the museum tickets and parking
Bumek [7]
Here are the steps, you fill in the missing parts.
A. The given ratio is:
2 adults per 9 students or the fraction 2/9
Now put that fraction 2/9=x/171 in other words, how many adults (x) for 171 students?
can you cross multiply and get 9x=342
and solve for x?

How you have the number of students and the number of adults.

B. for food multiply $6 times the total number of people.

C. for tickets multiply 4.50 times the student number and
7.50 times the adult number.

D. for the bus parking fee multiply .04 times you total answer in part C.

Now add up the food, tickets, bus parking and I think you have what Mr. Williams has to budget.
