Answer:

f(½) = 1.73

f(¼) = 1.32

Step-by-step explanation:

You will find the complete question attached as a picture alongside the solution.

\sqrt{3}y = f(x) = 3^{x}

When f(x) ⇒ f(½); that is, x = ½

y = 3^{0.5} = \sqrt {3}

y = 1.7320508076 ≈ 1.73

y = <u>1.73</u> (to the nearest hundredth)

When f(x) ⇒ f(¼); that is, x = ¼

y = 3^{0.25} = \sqrt[4]{3}

y = 1.316074013 ≈ 1.32

y = <u>1.32</u> (to the nearest hundredth)

Chris wants to leave a 15% tip on the price of the food, calculated before sales tax. What is the maximum cost of food the group
tekilochka [14]
Well there is two ways that you an solve this equation. So I will tell you both and you can pick which one you prefer to use. Anyone is fine by me not that it really matters but anyways here it goes.

First way is... You want to find out what 15% off $63 so a way to do it is you first want to find out what 10% of $63 is which would be 6.3 because you jus have to move the decimal place to the left one place. Which leaves you with the left over 5% which is half of the 10% which we have got 6.3 so half of that would be 3.15. So add those together and you get 9.45. I hope this is what you wanted to know.

Just because!!!

The other way that you could have done it is that you could have done it the decimal way... $63x0.15 to get  9.45 the same answer as above.
