Answer:

Graph of the function touches x-axis twice at 3 and -2.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : Quadratic function y= -x^2+x+6

To find : How many times does the graph of the function given intersect or touch the x-axis?

Solution :

To find the points graph touch the x-axis i.e, the functions real roots.

Using quadratic formula,

General form - ax^2+bx+c=0

D=b^2-4ac

Solution is x=\frac{-b\pm\sqrt{D}}{2a}

Equation is y= -x^2+x+6

where, a=-1 , b=1, c=6

D=b^2-4ac

D=(1)^2-4(-1)(6)

D=1+24

D=25

D>0 i.e, 2 real roots exist.

Solution is x=\frac{-b\pm\sqrt{D}}{2a}

x=\frac{-(1)\pm\sqrt{25}}{2(1)}

x=\frac{1\pm 5}{2}

x=3,-2

Therefore, graph of the function touches x-axis twice at 3 and -2.

AB is the angle bisector of CAD. Solve for the missing variable?
Alika [10]

Answer:

x=8^\circ

Step-by-step explanation:

A bisector is the line that divides an angle (which in this case is \angle CAD) exactly in half. Therefore, \angle CAB = \angle BAD and as such we can solve for x:

\angle CAB &= \angle BAD\\33^\circ &= 4x + 1^\circ\\4x = 32^\circ\\x = 8^\circ

and we are done.

A factory sells backpacks for $40.00 each. The cost to make 1 backpack is $10.00. In addition to the cost of making backpacks, t
Angelina_Jolie [31]

Answer:

<h2>The factory needs to sell 327 packbacks to make at least 9,800 per week.</h2>

Step-by-step explanation:

We know that each backpacks is sold for $40.00.

The goal is to make at least $9,800 per week. With this information we can define the inequality

40x -10x \leq 9,800

Where x represents backpacks. Notice that this inequality is about profits, that's why we subtract the cost from the sell price, in this case, the profid margin is $30.00 per backpack, so

30x\leq 9,800

Solving for x

x\leq \frac{9800}{30}\\ x \leq 326.67

Therefore, the factory needs to sell 327 packbacks to make at least 9,800 per week.
