Fetal alcohol syndrome occurs when a woman drinks alcohol in pregnancy. Alcohol consumption during pregnancy is not new, it brings numerous risks - already scientifically proven - to the baby. Therefore, most obstetricians are totally against, regardless of the amount or trimester the pregnant woman is in.

This syndrome is the most severe disorder in the spectrum of fetal alcohol disorders and is a complex clinical picture of various manifestations that may occur in those whose mother consumed alcohol during pregnancy. The effects result from interference with brain formation, in particular the normal proliferation and migration of neurons that do not fully develop in certain structures and may lead to congenital changes, central nervous system abnormalities, impaired growth and impaired cognitive and behavioral development. In short, children may develop learning and behavioral problems.
