Answer:

\frac{5}{12}  part of the 5th grade students were not on the jungle gym or playground.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

On the playground 1/4 of the 5th graders students are on the jungle gym and 1/3 of the of the 5th graders students were playing kickball.

Now, to find part of the 5th grade students who were not on the jungle gym or playground.

Total part of students assume to be whole = 1.

Part of students on the playground = \frac{1}{4}.

Part of students on the jungle gym = \frac{1}{3}.

Now, to get the part of the 5th grade students not on the jungle gym or playground by subtracting part of students on the playground and on the jungle gym from the whole part:

1-(\frac{1}{4}+\frac{1}{3} )

=1-(\frac{4+3}{12} )

=1-\frac{7}{12}

=\frac{12-7}{12}

=\frac{5}{12} .

Therefore, \frac{5}{12}  part of the 5th grade students were not on the jungle gym or playground.

Number 10Please just show the math and not the sentence explanations, I just want to use this problem as an example :)
Morgarella [4.7K]

Explanation

We are given the following right-angled triangle:

We are required to determine the indicated angle in the given figure.

This is achieved thus:

According to the image, we have:

\begin{gathered} Opposite=9 \\ Adjacent=21 \end{gathered}

Therefore, we have:

\begin{gathered} \tan\theta=\frac{opposite}{adjacent} \\ \tan\theta=\frac{9}{21} \\ \theta=\tan^{-1}(\frac{9}{21}) \\ \theta\approx23\degree \end{gathered}

Hence, the answer is:

23\degree

A researcher testing seed varieties for tulips got a confidence interval of (14.2%,17.4%) for the percent of seeds that can grow
Alex73 [517]

Answer:

The sample proportion is 0.158.

Step-by-step explanation:

In a confidence interval of proportions, we have the lower bound and the upper bound of the interval. The sample proportion is the halfway points between these bounds, that is, the sum of these bounds divided by 2.

In this problem, we have that:

Lower bound: 0.142

Upper bound: 0.174

Sample proportion: (0.142+0.174)/2 = 0.158

The sample proportion is 0.158.
