Answer:

\frac{5}{12}  part of the 5th grade students were not on the jungle gym or playground.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

On the playground 1/4 of the 5th graders students are on the jungle gym and 1/3 of the of the 5th graders students were playing kickball.

Now, to find part of the 5th grade students who were not on the jungle gym or playground.

Total part of students assume to be whole = 1.

Part of students on the playground = \frac{1}{4}.

Part of students on the jungle gym = \frac{1}{3}.

Now, to get the part of the 5th grade students not on the jungle gym or playground by subtracting part of students on the playground and on the jungle gym from the whole part:

1-(\frac{1}{4}+\frac{1}{3} )

=1-(\frac{4+3}{12} )

=1-\frac{7}{12}

=\frac{12-7}{12}

=\frac{5}{12} .

Therefore, \frac{5}{12}  part of the 5th grade students were not on the jungle gym or playground.

What is the distance between the penguins and the fish tanks?
astraxan [27]

Answer:

the distance between the penguins and the fish tanks is 81 ft

Step-by-step explanation:

Let A is the point of whales

Let B is the point of Sharks

Let D is the point of Dophines

Let P is the point of penguins

Let F is the point of Fish tank

From a look at the photo, we can find some special properties that:

AB//PF

In triangle ABD and DPF we have

  • ∠BAD=∠PFD(Alternate angles)
  • ∠ADB=∠PDF(Vertically opposite angles)

By AA rule, ABD and DPF are similar to each other

Therefore, using the similarity property, we have:

\frac{AD}{DF} = \frac{AB}{PF}

\frac{30}{45}=\frac{54}{x}\\x=\frac{54{\times}45}{30}\\x=81feet

So the distance between the penguins and the fish tanks is 81 ft

6.5 + (−2) + 10.5 I could probably do this but its kind of hard to understand. Explain?
elena-s [515]
Hello! Let's work this problem from left to right to make things a bit easier ;)

6.5+(-2) is the same as 6.5-2, since adding a negative is the same as subtracting a positive. 6.5-2=4.5

Now, we have to add 10.5 to 4.5, which gives us the grand total of 15. I hope this helped! Let me know if you need anything else!
