The Schlieffen Plan was developed as a war strategy for Germany during World War II. This plan was proposed by General Alfred von Schlieffen.  This strategy aimed at first conquering France and then moving on to Paris. Once the city of Paris came under the control of Germany, France would easily surrender. Russia was the next target following France.  France had to help Germany in the war against Russia.  The Schlieffen Plan was planned to divide France and Russia thereby strengthening the position of Germany.
