Dover Beach is his most famous poem; he discusses several aspects of his own Christianity, and there the reader can understand where the speaker and his love are with this lines that belong to the very beginning of the poem: "The sea is calm tonight./The tide is full, the moon lies fair/Upon the straits; on the French coast the light/Gleams and is gone; the cliffs of England stand," where he literally mentions the cliffs of Dover, which is as of today the most important ferry port in England.
