There is transcription of messenger RNA from a DNA gene in the nucleus during this step which means that the instructions encoded in the DNA of the genes are transcribed into the nucleotide sequence code of a RNA. This RNA is called messenger RNA because it carries a message from the genes to the ribosomes and the message is read as a codon so as to arrange the amino acids that produce the protein.
