The Treaty of Versailles was a peace agreement that was signed on 28th June 1919 to put an end to the ongoing First World War. This agreement put an end to the state of war between two groups, the Allied Powers and Germany. According to the terms of the Treaty Germany had to accept that Germany with its Allied was responsible for generating all the destruction and damage" during the war.
