Many practised escapism. Movies were just becoming popular and they were a way to escape from the harsh reality of their everyday life. Mini golf was also very popular as it was easy to put together and very cheap as well. In survival terms clothes were made of potato and flour sacks, people had horses tow their cars to get around and they began to eat anything they could, things people didn’t normally eat like ox tail
