Answer:

At one of Booker's jobs in a regional coal mine, he first overheard two workers address the Hampton Institute. It was a school for previous slaves in southeastern Virginia founded by General Samuel Chapman. Chapman had been a general of black troops for the Union during the Civil War and was dedicated to improving educational opportunities for African Americans.

Booker wanted to be just like Samuel, so in the year 1872, Washington walked 500 miles to Hampton. He went on to study at Wayland Seminary in Washington, D.C. Booker had fascinated and satisfied Samuel Chapman, so he was invited to return to Hampton as a teacher in the year 1879. Chapman suggested Washington for a role as an administrator of a new academy for African Americans in Tuskegee, Alabama. It was called the Tuskegee Normal and Industrial Institute.

Answer:

b. operational definition

Explanation:

Operational definition is the expression of procedure used to define the nature of an event or situation especially used during data collection. In this question, the sentence subject used is 'the intensity of the electrical shock the students are to receive'. Which mean it is asking specifically on the subject of the intensity of the electrical shock.

Option A, hypothetical construct is not it since hypothetical construct is a variable which could be explained but hardly observed. In this case, hypothetical construct is more suitable to the degree of pain (extremely painful, mild shock and other)

Option C, mediating definition is the mediator variable between a dependent and an independent variables; in this case is not applicable

While Option D, conceptual definition give the definition of a certain concept. For example the definition of concept of pain.

Therefore the best answer for this is B, operational definition since it focus on how to measure the intensity of the electrical shock

How has the United States Federal Government impacted the sovereignty of tribes in the Pacific Northwest? It's for my CWI class.
adelina 88 [10]

Answer:

The U.S. government made reservations the centerpiece of Indian policy around 1850, and thereafter reserves became a major bone of contention between natives and non-natives in the Pacific Northwest. However, they did not define the lives of all Indians. Many natives lived off of reservations, for example. One estimate for 1900 is that more than half of all Puget Sound Indians lived away from reservations. Many of these natives were part of families that included non-Indians and children of mixed parentage, and most worked as laborers in the non-Indian economy. They were joined by Indians who migrated seasonally away from reservations, and also from as far away as British Columbia. As Alexandra Harmon's article "Lines in Sand" makes clear, the boundaries between "Indian" and "non-Indian," and between different native groups, were fluid and difficult to fix. Reservations could not bound all Northwest Indians any more than others kinds of borders and lines could.
