The second person must be 20 years old, since that is the median of the ages.
If the mean is 22 years, then the sum when all three added together is 66.
That means, the youngest and the oldest add up to 46 years old.

Let the oldest be x + 16, then the youngest must be x.
x + 16 + x = 46
2x + 16 = 46
2x = 30
x = 15

Since the youngest person is 15, the oldest must be 31.

Hence, the ages, from youngest to oldest, are: 15, 20, 31

A sample of 12 measurements has a mean of 16.5, and a sample of 15 measurements has a mean of 18.6. Find the mean of all 27 meas
Wewaii [24]

Answer: 17.67

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

Sample  of 12 measurements has a mean of 16.5 and

a sample of 15 measurements has a mean of 18.6

Take \bar{x_1},n_1 be the mean and no of measurements

and \bar{x_2},n_2 be the mean and no of measurements in second case

\therefore \bar{x_1}=\dfrac{\sum a_1}{n_1}\\\\\Rightarrow \sum a_1=\bar{x_1}\times n_1\\\\\Rightarrow \sum a_1=198\quad \ldots(1)

Similarly,

\therefore \bar{x_2}=\dfrac{\sum a_2}{n_2}\\\\\Rightarrow \sum a_2=\bar{x_2}\times n_2\\\\\Rightarrow \sum a_2=279\quad \ldots(2)

Mean of 27 measurements

\Rightarrow \bar{x_3}=\dfrac{\sum a_1+\sum a_2}{n_1+n_2}\\\\\Rightarrow \bar{x_3}=\dfrac{198+279}{12+15}\\\\\Rightarrow \bar{x_3}=\dfrac{477}{27}\\\\\Rightarrow \bar{x_3}=17.67

How can we find different ways to present algebraic expressions without changing their meaning
HACTEHA [7]

Answer:

The algebraic expressions can be presents by words or equivalent expressions, so that its meaning remains same.

Step-by-step explanation:

Different ways to present algebraic expressions without changing their meaning:

1. We can describe the algebraic expressions in words so that its meaning remains same.

For example : 3x+y = Sum of 3 times of an unknown variables x and y.

2. We can describe the algebraic expressions in equivalent expressions, so that its meaning remains same.

For example : 6x+3y = 3(2x+y)

Therefore, the algebraic expressions can be presents by words or equivalent expressions, so that its meaning remains same.

How do i solve 20m-2m
solniwko [45]

You say to yourself  "Self !  This is easy, and I refuse to let it scare me !
I know that 20 dollars minus 2 dollars leaves 18 dollars.
And I know that 20 cows minus 2 cows leaves 18 cows.
And I know that 20 puppies minus 2 puppies leaves 18 puppies.
So it's obvious to me that 20 of anything minus 2 of the same thing
is always 18 of them.
It doesn't matter whether the things are hairbows, goldfish, cars,
CDs, books, or 'x', 'y', or 'z'.
So 20m minus 2m is definitely 18m."
