I believe that Baba Abdalla’s blindness symbolizes greed. He wanted more riches, even though he already had plenty, and when he wanted to possess the treasures hidden in the bowels of the earth and more. So thinking that the dervish was hiding some kind of treasure from him he asked the dervish to apply the ointment to his left eye ignoring the dervishes warning about becoming blind if the ointment was to be applied to the right eye. He became blind because of his greed and lives his life without sight but he realized the importance of the things he had and learned to appreciate them.

Hope this helps

Which researcher first realized that certain "psychic secretions" pointed to a simple but important form of learning?
padilas [110]
That researcher was Ivan Pavlov.
These psychic secretions are related to his experiments with dogs - he noticed that dogs would start salivating at the mere sight of food, or person delivering them food, or even the sound of their footsteps (because they knew food was coming). That's why he started experimenting even further - each time he brought them food, he would ring a bell, so eventually the dogs would start salivating every time they heard a bell because they were expecting food.

Summarize the president's/vice president's roles and responsibilities in 8 sentences
Sliva [168]

The president of the United States is the head of State and Government of the United States. It is the highest political office in the country by influence and recognition. The president leads the executive branch of the federal government. Among other powers and responsibilities, Article II of the Constitution of the United States entrusts to the president the "faithful execution" of the federal law, makes the president the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces, authorizes him to appoint executive and judicial officers with the advice and consent of the Senate places it at the forefront of the foreign policy of the United States, and allows the president to grant pardons or moratoria.

The vice president of the United States is the person with the second highest position in the executive branch of the Government, after the president of the United States. The Vice President exercises the Presidency definitively when the president dies, resigns or is removed from office for a trial. In addition, the vice president acts as president of the United States Senate but does not have the right to vote except to resolve ties, as required by Article I of the Constitution of the United States.
