Jefferson was a Republican. Republicans believed in small, decentralized government. They believed that too much power concentrated in the federal government could lead to too much governmental control. The national bank meant that to much power could be concentrated in the federal government.

____________________________________________________

Answer:

Your answer would be "He felt that the Constitution did not authorize the government to create a bank."

____________________________________________________

The reason why secretary of state Thomas Jefferson opposed to the creation of a national bank is because he felt that the Constitution did not authorize the government to create a bank.

____________________________________________________

Definition:

National bank: Functions as a federal reserve, known as the Federal Reserve Bank. It controls the auctions of the U.S treasury bonds.

____________________________________________________

Explanation:

The reason why "He felt that the Constitution did not authorize the government to create a bank" would be your answer is because Thomas Jefferson followed what the United States Constitution said. The reason why he opposed to the creation of a national bank was because it never said in the constitution that the government could make a national bank. Since creating a national ban was not in the constitution, he followed that. When you look at the constitution, there is no where saying that the federal government can make a national bank. Be believed that this was unconstitutional because it wasn't on the constitution to allow the federal government to make a bank. Another reason why Thomas Jefferson opposed to the creation of a national bank was because he believed that the national bank will only benefit the wealthy, or rich. he believed that it was no fair for the people that were average or poor because they wouldn't be benefiting from the creation of a national bank.

____________________________________________________

Why the other answer choices are incorrect:

The reason why the answer choice "He did not feel the federal government had the necessary skills to run a bank" is INCORRECT because:

Thomas Jefferson believed that the government had enough skill to run a national bank, in which they did. he didn't say anything about the government lacking skill to run a national bank.

The reason why the answer choice "He was afraid it would lead to increased taxes for poor, working-class citizens" is INCORRECT because:

The national bank doesn't have any effect on the working-class, and poor citizens. The only effect that Thomas Jefferson thought it had was benefiting the wealthy, by making them even more richer. Thomas Jefferson mentioned nothing about the bank making people poorer because of the increase in tax because of the bank.

The reason why the answer choice "He was afraid that the creation of a national bank would lead to more debt" is INCORRECT because:

The national bank didn't lead to that much debt, since the states payed the taxes and bills on making the bank. The bank helped the economy out and gave the economy profit, in which the U.S sued to its advantage. It made the countries currencies and intakes more organized. Thomas Jefferson didn't say anything about the national bank leading to more debt.
