Silk is important because the desire for it started trade between China and the Old World. Silk was a main staple of pre-industrial trade. The Silk Road, which stretched from China to India, Persia and Europe, linked together many civilizations. The trade fostered economic development.

The Silk Road was important because it helped to generate trade and commerce between a number of different kingdoms and empires. Now and days we would have our ingredients to make thing from them like spices from India or tea from china.
