Answer:

Omar

Step-by-step explanation:

to find the base, which i am to assume they want to find the triangle base based on the formula they are using,

you should multiply base * height, then divide by 2, since it is a triangle, you not solving for a rectangle.

dividing by 2 and multiplying by 1/2 is the same thing!

so,

1/2 (7* 24) is the right answer to finding the base!

Kari looked at he direct base of 7*28, however, that shape is actually a rectangle... so Kari is wrong because he multiplied that dimension by 1/2, which is the formula for a triangle.

Omar is correct because he chose the dimensions of a triangle, and properly used the triangle formula!

i hope this helped you out!

stay safe!

CALCULUS: For an object whose velocity in ft/sec is given by v(t) = sin(t), what is its distance, in feet, travelled on the inte
rodikova [14]

The linked answer is wrong because that integral gives you the net displacement of the object, not the total distance.

To get the distance, you have to integrate the speed (as opposed to velocity), which involves integrating the absolute value of the velocity function.

\mathrm{distance} = \displaystyle\int_1^5 |\sin(t)| \,\mathrm dt

By definition of absolute value,

|\sin(t)|=\begin{cases}\sin(t)&\text{for }\sin(t)\ge0\\-\sin(t)&\text{for }\sin(t)

Over this particular integration interval,

• sin(<em>t</em> ) ≥ 0 for 1 ≤ <em>t</em> < <em>π</em>, and

• sin(<em>t</em> ) < 0 for <em>π</em> < <em>t</em> ≤ 5

so you end up splitting the integral at <em>t</em> = <em>π</em> as

\mathrm{distance} = \displaystyle\int_1^\pi \sin(t)\,\mathrm dt + \int_\pi^5 (-\sin(t))\,\mathrm dt

Now compute the distance:

\mathrm{distance} = -\cos(t)\bigg|_1^\pi + \cos(t)\bigg|_\pi^5

\mathrm{distance} = -(\cos(\pi) - \cos(1)) + (\cos(5) - \cos(\pi))

\mathrm{distance} = -2\cos(\pi) + \cos(1) + \cos(5) \approx 2.82

making B the correct answer.

Goryan [66]
We are given the graph of sine function.
First, we get the amplitude
A = [6 - (-2)] / 2
A = 4

Next, we determine the period and b
T = 4 - 0 = 4
b = 2π / T
b = π/2

The original sine function was
y = 4 sin πx/2

After the transformation, the equation now is
y = 4 sin [π(x+2)/2] + 2
