What is the solution set for 4x−3=2x+5 , given the replacement set {2, 3, 4, 5} ?
Elden [556K]
We have the equation:

4x - 3 = 2x + 5

Let's to change "-3" to the right side of equation, but changing the sinal

4x = 2x + 5 + 3

4x = 2x + 8

Now, we let's to change "2x" to the left side of equation. But, we also will go to change the sinal

4x - 2x = 8

2x = 8

We pass "2" dividing by the 8

x = 8 ÷ 2

x = 4

Tha answer to this questions is ,

X = 4

I hope this has helped.

Find the equation of the line that is perpendicular to the line 4x+2y=1 and passes through the point (-4,3)
serious [3.7K]

First find the slope of the given line:

4x +2y = 1

Subtract 4x from each side:

2y = -4x + 1

Divide both sides by 2:

y = -2x +1/2

The slope is -2.

Now use the slope to find the y-intercept. Because  the line is perpendicular, you need to use the negative inverse of the slope.

The negative inverse of -2 is 1/2

Now using the point-slope form y - y1 = m(x-x1)

Use the inverse slope for m, and the given point(-4,3) to get:

y - 3 = 1/2(x+4)

Simplify:

y - 3 = x/2 +2

Add 3 to each side:

y = x/2 + 5

Reorder the terms to get y = 1/2x +5

The answer is D.

My question is im trying to solve for y in this problem 20x - 12y = -108
ziro4ka [17]

Answer:y=  \frac{5}{3} x + 9

Step-by-step explanation:

20x - 12y = -108

Add 12y + 108 to both sides

12y = 20x + 108

Divide both sides by 12

y = \frac{20}{12} x + \frac{108}{12}\\y=  \frac{5}{3} x + 9
