Now it's your turn to try on and decide if the force examples below are contact forces or non-contact forces. Please respond in

the chatbox below with an answer for each example. Magnetic: Magnet being pulled to a metal surface. Friction: skateboard slowing down on a rough surface. Gravity: Ball falling to the ground. Electrical: Charged balloon pulling up on arm hair . Tension (pull): people playing tug-of-war. Applied (push): a person pushing a toy car . Air resistance: wind pushing on the sail of a sailboat. Spring: springs being pushed together.

Answer:

Magnetic: Magnet being pulled to a metal surface- non- contact force

Friction: skateboard slowing down on a rough surface- contact force

Gravity: Ball falling to the ground - non-contact force

Electrical: Charged balloon pulling up on arm hair - non- contact force

Tension (pull): people playing tug-of-war - contact force

Applied (push): a person pushing a toy car - contact force

Air resistance: wind pushing on the sail of a sailboat - contact force

Spring: springs being pushed together -contact force

Explanation:

A contact force is a type of force that can only act when two bodies touch other physically. Examples of this include a push or a pull.

A non-contact force is a type of force that can only act when two bodies do not touch other physically. Examples include; electric force, magnetic force, etc.

A carbon atom has a strong tendency to do which of the following?. Answer. double bond with electrons. receive electrons. donate
Novay_Z [31]

Answer: Option (d) is the correct answer.

Explanation:

Atomic number of carbon is 6 and its electronic distribution is 2, 4. Therefore, in order to become stable and completely fill its octet carbon readily share its valence electrons with another atom.

For example, C + 2H_{2} \rightarrow CH_{4}

A carbon atom is also able to form a double double with valence  electrons of other atom.

Thus, we can conclude that a carbon atom has a strong tendency to share electrons.
