At the peak of the Roman Empire's reach, around A.D. 117, the Empire stretched as far north as modern Scotland, stretched down through Europe east into Asia as far as the border between modern day Iraq and Iran, with its southern reaches extending into northern Africa.

The Roman Empire, during its peak, went as far north as Britannia. It took the regions of Londinium and Eboracum and went passed them. It was around AD 117 when the Roman Empire reached its greatest extend. After Trajan's death, many provinces were abandoned.

I think its because the first people who came here were originally close in distance (ie. most people came from England and places near England.) When we brought slaves over, the African people along with the native people to the Americas (the native Americans) had to learn to understand us to make peace, trade, and other stuff.
