Answer:Carnivores and decomposers

An ecosystem is a community which consists of living and non-living components of the environment. The living components are mainly dependent on non-living components like sunlight, soil, water, atmospheric gases like oxygen, carbon dioxide and other factors.

An ecosystem could probably survive without carnivores and decomposers. Carnivores are organisms that are dependent upon other organisms for their food and energy requirements. These includes animals which kills and eat other animals. Example tiger, lion, fox and others. These organisms will limit the population of other organisms for example herbivores. Therefore, without carnivores the ecosystem will survive.

Decomposers: These are the organisms which feeds upon the dead and decaying parts of plants and animals. These organisms act as garbage management system for the ecosystem. They provide beneficial nutrients to the plants after the decomposition process through soil. But in the absence of these organisms plants can survive. Therefore, an ecosystem can sustain without decomposers.

Explanation:

Thus the answer would be Carnivores and decomposers

Hope this <em><u>Helped!</u></em> :D

A television advertisement claims that a certain brand of cough drop reduces coughing for 8 hours. Describe an investigation tha
Liono4ka [1.6K]

Answer:

See explanation below.

Explanation:

<em>Study Design - Partially double-blinded study</em>

  • The <u>cohort study </u>will be composed of 80 adults (aged ≥18 years) with a clinical diagnosis of constant coughing present as a result of a cold, which would be measured by semiautomated ambulatory cough monitor.
  • This study will be divided into an experimental group and a control group:
  1. No medication (natural drops; <em>e.g.</em> water; saline solution) - <em>Control group </em>
  2. Cough treatment - <em>Experimental group</em>
  • Data to be collected:

Participant cough will be recorded <u>every hour</u> (until 8 hours are reached) for two consecutive days (for repetitions) in both groups using semiautomated ambulatory cough monitor and analyzed statistically.

  • Observations:

Experimental group: <u>If coughing is significantly (statistical analysis) reduced within the 8 hours </u>(<em>after repetitions</em>) and a symptom improvement is observed, <u>the hypothesis that cough drops are effective is valid</u>.

Control group: To determine that cough drops treatment is effective, the no-treatment group should score worst and participant should not show significant improvement.

*<em>In scientific experiments, repetitions are important to prevent bias and error.</em>

Do you think viruses should be classified as "living organisms"? why or why not?
laiz [17]
Not, Viruses are not considered "alive" because they lack many of the properties that scientists associate with living organisms. Primarily, they lack the ability to reproduce without the aid of a host cell, and don't use the typical cell- division approach to replication.
