Let the width = x then length = x + 11 inches

Perimeter of a rectangle = 2*width + 2*length so we have the equation:-

( letting P = perimeter , L = length and W = width)

P = 2L + 2W

86 = 2(x + 11)) + 2x

86 = 4x + 22

4x = 86-22 = 64

x = 64 / 4 = 16 inches

Therefore the length of the rectangle = 16 + x

= 16 + 11 = 27 inches Answer

Type the correct answer in the box. Assume that pi=3.14 and round your answer to the nearest integer.
stepan [7]

Answer:

648\ yd

Step-by-step explanation:

step 1

Find the circumference of the complete circle

The circumference is equal to

C=2\pi r

we have

r=35\ yd

substitute

C=2\pi(35)

C=70\pi\ yd

step 2

Find the measure of the arc length for a central angle of 280 degrees

Remember that the circumference subtends a central angle of 360 degrees

so by proportion

\frac{70\pi}{360}=\frac{x}{280}\\ \\x=280*(70\pi )/360\\ \\x=54.44\pi\ yd

step 3

Find the perimeter of the playground

P=54.44\pi+45=54.44*3.14+45=215.96\ yd

Multiply by 3

215.96*(3)=647.87\ yd

Round to the nearest integer

647.87=648\ yd

These are the steps:
1. Find the area of the trapezium {Whole figure).
2. FInd the area of the rectangle (unshaded).
3. Area of the shaded = Area of trapezium - Area of the rectangle.

<u>Step 1:  Find the area of the trapezium</u>:

Formula : Area of trapezium = 1/2 (a + b)h

Area = 1/2 ( 25 + 15) (12) = 240 yd²

<u>Step </u><u>2 :</u><u> Find the area of the rectangle</u>:

Formula : Area = Length x Width

Area = 12 x 3 = 36 yd²

<u>Step 3: Find the shaded region:</u>

240 - 36 = 204 yd²

Answer: 204 yd²

3.7/2 = 1.85
2 goes into 3 1 time.
you have a remainder of 1
That one gets a 7 after it
now you have 17
2 goes into 17 8 times
remainder of 1
bring down the 0 that's there, but is not shown because it's not important in standard form or decimals.
You get 10 and that's 5
so you have 1.85
