Explanation: The Clean water Act is an influential environmental law in the United States primarily overseen by the Environmental Protection Agency in coordination with the state government. It is aimed at restoring the sanity and integrity of the nation's waters from a physical, biological and chemical perspective. The Act regulates basic stand for surface water and created structural regulations for discharging pollutants into the nation's waters.

However, the goals set by congress weren't achieved such as prohibiting the discharge of toxic amount of toxic pollutants, To attain a water quality Standard for fishing and swimming activities and To attain zero water pollution discharge.
