Prior to 1820, how did eligible citizens cast their votes in elections?
<span>C.) by casting secret ballots

Unlike today where men and women can vote regardless of race as long as they are registered voters, people in 1820 can only vote if they are white, male, have properties, and sometimes must be Protestants. These are just some of the requirements that they must meet before they can cast their vote using secret ballots.

How did indentured servitude and slavery evolve from the start in the 13 colonies to 1640?
NeX [460]

Answer:

Answered below

Explanation:

The significant starting point of slavery in the 13 colonies in America was in August, 1619, when twenty African slaves who were seized from a Portuguese slave ship, were brought ashore in the British colony of Jamestown, Virginia by White Lion, a privateer ship owned by Robert Rich, Earl of Warwick.

European settlers in the North American colonies began relying on African slaves and indenture servants for sources of cheap labour.

Enslaved Africans were forced to work on rice and tobacco plantations from the Chesapeake bay colonies of Maryland and Virginia to Georgia. By 1640 both slaves and indentured servants existed.

solniwko [45]

The United States emerged as a great industrial power following World War I -- the most powerful nation in the world, in fact.

The growth of the United States as the world's leader in industry had been proceeding rapidly already prior to the Great War (which we know as World War I). By 1900, 38% of the world's wealth was held by the United States. By 1914, the US produced as much coal as Britain and Germany combined, as well as producing over 40% of the world's iron.

But before World War I, the United States tended to take an isolationist stance toward other nations. World War I advanced the US into superpower status as a nation that used its industrial might to involve itself in global affairs.
