Find the 25th term of the arithmetic sequence when a1 = -14 and d = -5

Answer:

  a25 = -134

Step-by-step explanation:

For first term a1 and common difference d, the formula for the n-th term is ...

  an = a1 + d(n -1)

You want to evaluate this for n=25, a1=-14, d=-5. Filling in the numbers and doing the arithmetic, you get ...

  a25 = -14 -5(25 -1) = -14 -120

  a25 = -134

MrRa [10]

Answer:

x < -20

Step-by-step explanation:

x / -4  + 14 >20

Subtract 14 from each side

x / -4 +14-14 > 20 -14

x / -4 > 6

Multiply each side by -4, remembering to flip the inequality

x / -4 * -4 < 6 * -4

x < -20

A photograph was enlarged to a width of 15 inches. If the scale factor was 3 /2 , what was the width of the original photograph?
andre [41]
If the width is 15, and the scale factor from width to length is 3:2, then you will have to divide 15 by 3 to get your original width.
15/3 = 5.
5 is your original width.

(Essay Question 7 Points)
Irina18 [472]

Well I don't know.
Let's think about it:

-- There are 6 possibilities for each role.
    So 36 possibilities for 2 rolls.
    Doesn't take us anywhere.

New direction:
-- If the first roll is odd, then you need another odd on the second one.
-- If the first roll is even, then you need another even on the second one.
This may be the key, right here !

-- The die has 3 odds and 3 evens.

-- Probability of an odd followed by another odd = (1/2) x (1/2) = 1/4
-- Probability of an even followed by another even = (1/2) x (1/2) = 1/4

I'm sure this is it.  I'm a little shaky on how to combine those 2 probs.

Ah hah !
Try this:

Probability of either 1 sequence or the other one is (1/4) + (1/4) = 1/2 .

That means ... Regardless of what the first roll is, the probability of
the second roll matching it in oddness or evenness is 1/2 .

So the probability of 2 rolls that sum to an even number is 1/2 = 50% .

Is this reasonable, or sleazy ?
