There are three simple steps to add fractions:

2. Add the top numbers (numerators) put the answer over the denominator

3. Simplify the fraction (if needs)

Kayra and Mycho sell flowers on weekends to earn extra money. For every 2 flowers that Kayra sells,Mycho sells 5. If Kayra sold 6
andreyandreev [35.5K]

Answer:

We know that:

For every two flowers that Kayra sells, Mycho sells 5.

Now, in the question we have:

"If Kayra sold 6 newspapers, how many did Mycho sell?"

There is no information about newspapers, so we can't answer anything.

If we had something like:

"If Kayra sold 6 flowers, how many did Mycho sell?"

Well, in this case, we remember that for every 2 flowers that Kayra sells, Mycho sells 5, then the first thing we need to do is count how many groups of 2 flowers we have in 6 flowers, this is:

6/2 = 3 groups.

And for each one of these, Mycho will sell 5 flowers, then the total number of flowers that Mycho sold is:

3*5 = 15 flowers.

Zolol [24]
Factor out 18.

The factors for 18 are as listed:

1, 2, 3, 6, 9, 18

Now factor out 30.

The factors for 30 are as listed:

1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 10, 15, 30

Now look at the factors that are both factors for 18 and 30.

So, the common factors are 2, 3, and 6.

A jet flew for 2 hrs before strong head winds reduced its speed by 40mph. If it took the plane 5 hrs to travel 1,380 miles, find
GarryVolchara [31]

As per the problem

A jet flew for 2 hrs before strong head winds reduced its speed by 40 mph.

It took the plane 5 hrs to travel 1,380 miles

Total time=5 hrs, Time of fly before headwinds=2,

Time of fly in headwinds=5-2=3 hrs

Let the speed before head winds =v\\

Then speed in headwinds=(v-40)\\

As we know that

\text{Distance =Speed*Time}\\ \\

Hence using this formula and the given data we can write

1380=2v+3(v-40)\\ \\ \text{Simplify we get}\\ \\ 3v-120+2v=1380\\ \\ 5v=1380+120\\ \\ 5v=1500\\ \\ v=300mph\\

Hence speed before flying into the headwinds=300mph
