United States established open door policy in order to ensure that it could conduct trade with and exert influence in China.

United States established open door policy because it wanted to make sure that it can exert influence in China and by doing so it can do trade in China. This policy was a statement in regards to the principals which was initiated by United States in year 1899 and 1900 and this was done Privileges of other countries was also focus to protect as the countries that were doing trade with China and this was done to support Administrative integrity of China.  

The working of this policy was do work as a mediator for the competing interests which were there in different types of colonial powers that were there in China.  This policy also ensured that no company or trade will trading rights which were meant for them exclusively from any specific area of China. During the period of first Sino-Japanese war, China faced the threat of being sidelined and colonized by major powers such as Britain, France Germany, Italy and Russia.  

After America won American- Spanish war, United States made its appearance in Asia and wanted to extend its commercial and political interest in China. But United States was also well aware of interests of other nations in China and because of this reason the United States was worried of loosing access to Chinese trade and markets and as a response to this, United States came up with Open Door Policy.  

United States established open door policy in order to ensure that it could conduct trade with and exert influence in China.

The Open Door Policy was introduced by America during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. During this time, America and many European countries (Spain, France, Britain, Portugal, etc.) were fighting for control of land and resources. With this in mind, the United States wanted to make sure that they did not get cut off from trading with China. Due to fear of control of China by another country, the US came up with this Open Door policy in hopes that all countries could have a beneficial trade relationship with China during this time.
