Meredith is playing games at an arcade to earn tickets that she can exchange for a prize. She has 287 tickets from a previous vi

sit, and she earns 5 tickets for each game she plays. In the equation below, x represents the number of games Meredith plays, and y represents the number of tickets she needs for the prize. y = 5x + 287 If Meredith needs 367 tickets to exchange for the prize she wants, how many games does Meredith need to play?

if y=367

then you need to figure out this:

367=5x+287

so remove 287 from 367

367-287=80

Then divide by 5

80/5=16

so, x=16

Meredith needs to play 16 games.

Y=367

367=5x + 287
-287
80=5x
80/5=x
16=x

A 20 foot ladder leaning against a wall is used to reach a window that is 17 feet above the ground. How far from the wall is the
GarryVolchara [31]

The bottom of the ladder is 10.5 feet away from the wall

Step-by-step explanation:

The given scenario forms a right triangle.

Where

The length of ladder will be the hypotenuse

The wall on which the window is situated will ebt he perpendicular and

The distance between the foot of ladder and the wall will be the base

So,

Hypotenuse = H = 20 foot

Perpendicular = P = 17 feet

Base = B = ?

Using the Pythagoras theorem

H^2=P^2+B^2\\(20)^2=(17)^2+B^2\\400=289+B^2\\400-289=B^2\\B^2=111\\Taking\ square\ root\ on\ both\ sides\\\sqrt{B^2}=\sqrt{111}\\B=10.53\\Rounding\ off\ to\ the\ nearest\ tenth\\B=10.5

The bottom of the ladder is 10.5 feet away from the wall

Elle is buying new flooring for her kitchen
const2013 [10]

Answer:

The total area of the two rooms is 188.25 square feet

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Area of the kitchen = 132 square feet.

Dimension of the Laundry room =  8 1/3 feet by 6 3/4 feet.

To Find:

The total area of the two rooms = ?

Solution:

Area of the two rooms   =  Area of the kitchen + Area of the laundry room

Area of the two rooms   =    132 +  Area of the laundry room

Area of the laundry room  =(8 \frac{1}{3}) \times (6 \frac{3}{4})

Area of the laundry room  =\frac{25}{3} \times \frac{27}{4}

Area of the laundry = \frac{675}{12}

Area of the two rooms   =    132 +  \frac{675}{12}

Area of the two rooms   = 132 + 56.25

Area of the two rooms   = 188.25 square feet
