Who was Shi Huangdi? What characteristics made him an effective ruler?
algol [13]
Shi Huangdi was the emperor of the Qin Dynasty, and his name means "first emperor". He was a fierce ruler, and he believed in the principles of legalism, which meant that people were naturally bad and needed to be controlled. Therefore, he ordered book burnings about books that rejected the ideals of legalism, anybody caught hiding books was killed, and he even buried scholars that disagreed with him alive. Shi Huangdi believed in good protection for his empire, and even ordered the construction of the Great Wall Of China to protect his empire from the Huns.
Hopefully this helped!

saw5 [17]
<span>A communist state. Communism is a system of government in which the government controls the economy. This form of government has a single political party and is often administered and governed by a single party representing the proletariat; state controls are imposed on the masses with the elimination of private ownership of property or capital. On October 1, 1949, Chinese Communist leader Mao Zedong declared the creation of the People's Republic of China (PRC) after an almost complete victory.
