Olivia sold 14 magazines.

Step-by-step explanation:

Total magazines sold = 138

Let,

Magazines sold by Olivia = x

Magazines sold by Quincy = y

Magazines sold by Trenton = z

According to given statements;

x+y+z=138    Eqn 1

Quincy sold three times as many magazines as Olivia.

y = 3x    Eqn 2

Trenton sold two less than twice the number of magazines that Quincy sold.

z = 2y-2    Eqn 3

Putting value of y from Eqn 2;

z=2(3x)-2\\z=6x-2\ \ \ \ Eqn\ 4

Putting value of y from Eqn 2 and value of z from Eqn 3 in Eqn 1

x+3x+(6x-2)=138\\4x+6x-2=138\\10x=138+2\\10x=140\\

Dividing both sides by 10

\frac{10x}{10}=\frac{140}{10}\\x=14

Olivia sold 14 magazines.

What is the exact distance from (–1, 4) to (6, –2)? (4 points) units units units units
irina1246 [14]

Answer:

\sqrt{85}

Step-by-step explanation:

Calculate the distance d using the distance formula

d = √ (x₂ - x₁ )² + (y₂ - y₁ )²

with (x₁, y₁ ) = (- 1, 4) and (x₂, y₂ ) = (6, - 2)

d = \sqrt{(6+1)^2+(-2-4)^2}

  = \sqrt{7^2+(-6)^2}

  = \sqrt{49+36}

  = \sqrt{85} ← exact distance

Solve each system of equations algebraically y= x-6 y= 2x
lbvjy [14]

Answer: x = -6

Step-by-step explanation: The problem gave us the y value, so we can just substitute it into the equation and solve it.

y = x - 6

y = 2x

2x = x - 6 (substitute the y value into the equation)

1x = -6 (subtract x on each side)

x = -6 (1x is basically saying x so you do not need to divide)

Answer:

  see attached

Step-by-step explanation:

I like to use a spreadsheet for repetitive calculations. The distances are computed from the distance formula:

  d = √((x2 -x1)^2 +(y2 -y1)^2)

The results are shown in the second attachment. The drawing in the first attachment has the lengths rounded to the nearest tenth.
