The coordinates of point T are given. The midpoint of line ST is (5,-8). Find the coordinate of point S if T is (5,-15)

The easiest way to approach this problem would be to graph it. However, since I cannot do that, I will explain how to find the coordinate over writing. So, take note that the midpoint is at x=5 and the point T is at x=5. This shows that the line in which we are looking at is vertical. So we already know the x coordinate of S. (5,y)
Now, the midpoint is the point directly in the middle of 2 points. We need to find the distance from the midpoint to one of the points.
From -8 ---> -15. This is 7 units down from the midpoint. The other point S would be 7 units up from the midpoint.
-8 ----> -1. The coordinates of point S is (5, -1)
I hope this helps :-)

Kara mixes different colors of paint to create new colors. The table shows the amount of paint Kara mixes per batch.
Sergio [31]

Answer:

D. Batch 5.

Step-by-step explanation:

The batch should have the same proportion of blue to white to yellow.

In Batch 1, there are two parts of blue, 1.5 parts of white, and 1 part of yellow.

In Batch 5, there are four parts of blue, 3 parts of white, and 2 parts of yellow.

4 / 2 = 2

3 / 2 = 1.5

2 / 2 = 1

Since the proportions are equal to those found in Batch 1, D. Batch 5 will create the same colors as the first batch.

Hope this helps!

Following are measurements of soil concentrations (in mg/kg) of chromium (Cr) and nickel (Ni) at 20 sites in the area of Clevela
WINSTONCH [101]

Answer:

a) see attached

b) see attached

Step-by-step explanation:

There is existence of outlier in the Ni data and there is none is Cr data.

########################################

# You can try this out in R programming

cr = c(34, 1, 511, 2, 574, 496, 322, 424, 269, 140, 244, 252, 76, 108, 24,

38, 18, 34, 30, 191)

Ni = c(23, 22, 55, 39, 283, 34, 159, 37, 61, 34, 163, 140, 32,

23, 54, 837, 64, 354, 376, 471)

par(mfrow=c(1,2))

hist(cr, col='green')

hist(Ni, col='brown')

par(mfrow=c(1,2))

boxplot(cr, main = 'Boxplot of Cr')

boxplot(Ni, main = 'Boxplot of Ni')

boxplot(cr, Ni)

Mike and Menna were instructed to graph the function y = 12 x + 1. Their graphs are shown.
KATRIN_1 [288]

Answer:

The function is y = 2x + 1.

And mike graphed the function correctly.

Menna took the point where the function touches x-axis incorrectly.

Instead of (-1/2,0), Menna took it as (-2,0)

Step-by-step explanation:

The equation y = mx +c indicates a straight line whose slope is m

And y-intercept is c.

y-intercept is nothing but the distance between origin and point where the graph crosses the y-axis (0,c).

Now, this graph crosses x-axis when y = 0.

⇒ mx + c = 0;       ⇒ x = \frac{-c}{m}.

Now, by comparing y = 2x + 1 with y = mx + c.

m=2 and c=1

⇒ the graph should crosses y-axis at (0,c) = (0,1)

And touch x-axis at (\frac{-c}{m} , 0) = (\frac{-1}{2},0)

⇒ mike graphed the function correctly.

Menna took the point where the function touches x-axis incorrectly.

Instead of (-1/2,0), Menna took it as (-2,0)

Find the 8th term of the geometric sequence: 1/3, -1, 3
olga55 [171]

Step-by-step explanation:

a= 1/3

common ratio = -3

the 8th term is given by,

a {r}^{7}  =  \frac{1}{3}  \times  {( - 3)}^{7}

=  - 729
