Are the vectors u=(2,3) and v=(-6, 4) orthogonal?

We need to find dot products of 2 vectors:

u·v = x1*x2 + y1*y2

u·v = 2*(-6) + 3*4 = -12 + 12 = 0

Another way to write dot product u·v = |u|*|v|*cos α.

Because the do product = 0, we can write

|u|*|v|*cos α = 0.

That means cos α = 0, and thus α=90⁰, so vectors v and u are orthogonal.

Solve for x and y then find the measure of each angle
Maslowich

Step-by-step explanation:

∵ MP is a straight line.

∴ ∠MNQ + ∠PNQ = 180°

(3y + 8)° + (3y + 22)° = 180° \\ 3y + 8 + 3y + 22 = 180 \\ 6y + 30 = 180 \\ 6y = 150 \\ y = 25

∵ MP is a straight line.

∴ ∠MNR + ∠PNR = 180°

(2x + 5)° + (3x - 55)° = 180° \\ 2x + 5 + 3x - 55 = 180 \\ 5x - 50 = 180 \\ 5x = 230 \\ x = 46

A building in a city has a rectangular base. The length of the base measures 75 ft less than three times the width. The
MariettaO [177]

The dimensions of the rectangular base of the building with the given perimeter are 120ft and 285ft.

What are the dimensions of the rectangle base?

The perimeter of rectangle is expressed as;

P = 2( l + w )

Given the data in the question;

Let x represent the width of the rectangular base.

 • Width w = x
 • Length = l = 3x-75
 • Perimeter P = 810ft

Plug these values into the equation above.

P = 2( l + w )

810 = 2( (3x-75) + x )

810 = 6x - 150 + 2x

810 = 8x - 150

8x = 810 + 150

8x = 960

x = 960/8

x = 120

Hence,

Width of the rectangle = x = 120ft

Length of the rectangle = 3x-75 = 3(120) - 75 = 285ft

Therefore, the dimensions of the rectangular base of the building with the given perimeter are 120ft and 285ft.

A teacher gave a 3-question multiple choice quiz. Each question had 4 choices to select from. If the a student completely guesse
goldenfox [79]

Answer:

0.9844

Step-by-step explanation:

This is a binomial probability problem.

Probability of getting a correct answer: p = 1/4

Probability of getting an incorrect answer: q = 3/4

Number of questions; n = 3

Thus;

probability of 2 or less correct answers is; P(x ≤ 2) = P(X = 2) + P(X = 1) + P(X = 0)

From binomial probability the formula is;

P(X = x) = C(n, x) × p^(x) × q^(n - x)

P(X = 2) = C(3, 2) × (¼)² × (¾)¹

P(X = 2) = 3 × 0.0625 × 0.75

P(X = 2) = 0.1406

P(X = 1) = C(3, 1) × (¼)¹ × (¾)²

P(X = 1) = 3 × 0.25 × 0.5625

P(X = 1) = 0.4219

P(X = 0) = C(3, 0) × (¼)^(0) × (¾)³

P(X = 0) = 0.4219

P(x ≤ 2) = 0.1406 + 0.4219 + 0.4219

P(x ≤ 2) = 0.9844

Sin = opposite/hypotenuse
cos = adjacent/hypotenuse

They are the same when opposite equals adjecent.
This only occurs when the angles are equal.
