Answer:

The answer would be a single celled organism.

Explanation:

Even though transforming genetically any organism is not an easy task, as it requires the whole organism to be changed, it's more practical to do in a unicellular organism. For example, bacteria mutate very easily due to its ability to incorporate new genes by horizontal transfer. Anyway, unicellular organisms have mechanisms to avoid strange genetic material to get into their DNA, that's why scientists have to use such tools as vectors and more.

The retinoblastoma protein, pRB, is a tumor-suppressor protein that controls the G1/S cell-cycle checkpoint. While pRB is presen
gladu [14]

Answer:

1. pRB phosphorylated: The cell will not remain in G1 phase i.e. it will enter S phase because pRB will be degraded.

2. pRB not phosphorylated: The cell will remain in G1 phase i.e. will not enter S phase because pRB will remain bound to E2F.

3. pRB bound to E2F: The cell will remain in G1 phase i.e. will not enter S phase.

4. pRB not bound to E2F: The cell will not remain in G1 phase i.e. it will enter S phase.

5. E2F bound to DNA: The cell will not remain in G1 phase i.e. it will enter S phase.

6. CDK4 bound to Cyclin D1: The cell will not remain in G1 phase i.e. it will enter S phase.

Explanation:

Retinoblastoma protein, pRB supresses tumor by regulating cell cycle progression in G1 phase. When a transcription factor known as E2F is bound to pRB the cell remains in G1 phase and did not proceed further to enter S phase. But as soon as pRB becomes phosphorylated, E2F becomes free and causes gene expression of cyclin E and and cyclin A which are required in progression of cell cycle from G1 phase to S phase.

Signaling involved in cell cycle progression from G1 phase to S phase.

When a cell is unstimulated, pRB is bound to E2F but G1 phase specific growth factors induce the expression of cyclin D through Ras-MAP kinase pathway.

Synthesis of cyclin D leads to the activation of CDK-4 which is a serine-threonine kinase. This kinase causes phosphorylation of pRB which results in the degradation of pRB.

Because of degradation of pRB, E2F becomes free and leads to the expression of cyclin E and and cyclin A which are S phase specific cyclins. This is how cell progresses from G1 phase to S phase.

E2F is a transcription factor which causes expression of S phase specific cyclins i.e. cyclin E and and cyclin A. So, E2F bound to DNA will result in cell cycle progression from G1 phase to S phase.

The process of photosynthesis can be represented by the chemical formula A) C6H12O6 + 6O2 → 6CO2 + 6H2O + energy B) C6H12O6 + 6H
mrs_skeptik [129]
C) is correct because light energy is converted into glucose in the process of photosynthesis. Also the air we breath in aka oxygen is exhaled as carbon dioxide which plants convert. into oxygen.Products of photosynthesis are the reactants of cellular resperation.

Secondary structure is determined by interactions between amino acid side chains and tertiary structure is determined by interac
STatiana [176]

Answer:

False

Explanation:

The sequence of amino acids in a protein is determined by the DNA and the structure of protein thus formed is a linear sequence. These linear structures undergo structural changes due to the formation of bonds between the constituent molecules.

When bonds are formed by the interactions between the CO group of one chain and the -H group which forms the backbone is known as the secondary structures. Two types of arrangements arise of this that is the helical and pleated sheet.

When the bonds are formed between the side groups or the R group of the amino acid therefore the amino acid structure formed is known as the tertiary structure.

Thus, false is the correct answer.

Please help. The two questions shown
maw [93]

Answer:

The smallest number of copies of the dominant allele for polydactyly that could be found in a body cell of a person is one, since polydactyly is caused by an autosomal dominant allele.

Two copies of the recessive cystic fibrosis (CF) allele are there in a body cell of a person suffering from CF, as it is inherited in an autosomal recessive manner.

Explanation:

Polydactyly is a condition in which the individual has extra fingers or toes. It is an autosomal dominant condition caused by a dominant allele of the faulty gene. So to inherit the polydactyl condition, the offspring need to carry just one dominant allele from their parents.

If the dominant allele can be shown as P and the recessive allele can be shown as p ,then the offspring who is homozygous (PP) or heterozygous (Pp) for the dominant allele will develop Polydactyly.

Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disease inherited in an autosomal recessive manner, which is caused by a faulty recessive allele on chromosome 7. This disorder is characterized by the buildup of thick, sticky mucus in the cell membranes of the body's organs and cause progressive damage, mainly to the respiratory system and digestive system. To inherit cystic fibrosis, the offspring has to carry two copies of the faulty gene, one from each of the parents.

If the recessive allele can be shown as 'f 'and the dominant allele can be shown as 'F ', then only the person who is homozygous 'ff' with the recessive allele will develop cystic fibrosis. The person who is homozygous with the dominant allele 'FF' will not develop cystic fibrosis (need two faulty alleles (ff) for the condition) and the person who is heterozygous 'Ff' will be a carrier of the disease, but will not develop cystic fibrosis and have no symptoms.
