Have you ever been swimming in a pool, and your eyes were red when you get out? This means the chemicals in the pool were not ad

justed correctly! More specifically, the measurement of the pool's pH was not quite right. pH is a measurement of hydronium ions and can be modeled by the function f(x) = −log10x. The variable x represents the amount of hydronium ions, and f(x) gives the pH level. Different liquids have ideal pH values that are different. Water at 25 degrees Celsius has a pH of 7. Anything that has a pH less than 7 is called acidic, and a pH above 7 is basic, or alkaline. Seawater has a pH just more than 8, whereas lemonade has a pH of approximately 3. 1. Create a graph of the pH function either by hand or using technology. Locate on your graph where the pH value is 0 and where it is 1. You may need to zoom in on your graph. 2. Use your graph to find the ideal pH level if the amount of hydronium ions is raised to 0.50. 3. The pool company developed new chemicals that transform the pH scale. Using the pH function f(x) = −log10x as the parent function, explain which transformation results in a y-intercept and why. You may graph by hand or using technology. Be sure to label each transformation on the graph. f(x) + 1 f(x + 1)

pH = f(x) = -log₁₀x

1. Graphs

I used Excel to calculate the pH values and draw the graphs (see the Figure).

f(x) and f(x) +1 are plotted against the left-hand axis, while f(x+ 1) is plotted against the expanded right-hand axis.

The points at which pH = 0 and pH = 1 are indicated by the large red dots.

2. x = 0.5

When x = 0.5, pH ≈0.30. The point is indicated by the red diamond.

3. Transformations

(a) ƒ(x) = -log(x) + 1

This function has no y-intercept, because log(0) is undefined.

(b) ƒ(x +1) = -log(x + 1)

f(0) = -log(0 + 1) = -log(1) = 0

This function has a y-intercept at (0,0).

hope this helps please mark me brainliest!

The graph below shows the design for the front view of a doghouse that Jeremy plans to build. If each square on the graph repres
dexar [7]

Based on the graph, the total perimeter of the doghouse Jeremy plans to build s 28 feet (twenty-eight feet).

<h3>What is the perimeter?</h3>

This is the total distance of all the sides in a shape. Due to this, the general formula is:

  • Perimeter = side + side + side.

<h3>What is the perimeter of the doghouse?</h3>
  • Horizontal side: 8 feet
  • Vertical sides: 10 feet
  • Diagonal sides: 10 feet

8+10+10= 28 feet.

Note: This question is incomplete because the graph is missing; here is the graph:

When do you get an answer to a system of linear equations that has one solution, no solution and infinitely many solutions?
meriva

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

One solution:  when two lines intersect in exactly one point.

Infinitely many solutions:  When one of two lines can be shown algebraically to be exactly the same as the other.  The two lines coincide.

No solution:  The two lines have the same slope but different y -intercepts.  They can't and don't intersect.

there are n counters in a bag. 4 of the counters are red and the rest are blue. Ross takes a counter from the bag at random and
Ainat [17]

Answer: n = 10.

Step-by-step explanation:

In the bag, we have n counters.

4 of the counters are red.

the rest are blue, then we have:

(n - 4) blue counters.

Now, the probability that Ross takes a blue counter from the bag is equal to the quotient between the number of blue counters (n - 4) and the total number of counters, n

Then the probability is:

p1 = (n - 4)/n

Now he draws another, and it must be blue again, then we can calculate the probability in the same way as above, but he already take a blue counter, so the number of blue counters is (n - 5) and the total number of counters is (n - 1)

The probability of this event is:

p2 = (n - 5)/(n - 1)

The joint probability (the probability that Ross takes two blue counters) is equal to the product of the individual probabilities, and we know that this is equal to 1/3, then we have the equation:

1/3 = ( (n - 4)/n)*((n - 5)/(n - 1))

Now let's solve this for n.

n*(n - 1)/3 = (n - 4)*(n - 5)

(n^2 - n)/3 = n^2 - 4*n - 5*n + 20

n^2 - n = 3*(n^2 - 9*n + 20)

n^2 - n = 3*n^2 - 27*n + 60

0 = (3*n^2 - n^2) - 27*n + n + 60

0 = 2*n^2 - 26*n + 60

The two solutions of this equation can be found with Bhaskara's equation:

n = \frac{-(-26) +- \sqrt{(-26)^2 - 4*2*60} }{2*2} = \frac{26+- 14}{4}

Then the two solutions are:

n = (26 - 14)/4 = 3

This is not an option, because we know for sure that we have 4 red counters, then this option can be discarded.

The other solution is:

n = (26 + 14)/4 = 40/4 = 10

Then we have n = 10, 10 counters in total.
