Answer:

Kipling was an advocate of British imperialism. For example, he wrote the poem The White Man's Burden, which reveals Hegelian master-servant dialectics and racism: the white man drags the colored people with him as a burden and teaches civilization.

After the Massacre of Amritsar, where hundreds of protesting Indians were killed on 13 April 1919 under the authority of General Reginald Dyer, Kipling called him "the man who saved India".

The Man Who Would Be King was published in 1888. It tells the story of two unscrupulous British adventurers in the British Raj who plan to become kings of Kafiristan, a remote region of Afghanistan. This story shows the author's position regarding European supremacy over other peoples, giving European characters behaviors that reflect greater intelligence and boldness than the other characters.

Kipling was a staunch imperialist seeing it as ''the White Man's Burden'
Daniel and Peachey represent the Empire expanding to the benefit of the natives. The 'White man's magic' of course impresses the credulous natives, and they reap the benefits of their modernity by ruling.
It is only when they start familiarising with the locals that their prestige is destroyed.
Kipling is warning to keep them at arms length, and stay with your own.

A sentence that combines two or more complete thoughts without using proper punctuation is known as
il63 [147K]
a run-on

A run-on sentence is a sentence that has two or more complete thoughts without proper punctuation. This makes the sentence grammatically incorrect. For example: I have a dog she runs fast. There are two complete ideas, but they aren't punctuated correctly. It's also missing a conjunction. Two join the ideas, it must be changed to: I have a dog, and she runs fast.
A fragment is an incomplete sentence. Most fragments are dependent clauses. For example: Since the dog runs fast. This is a fragment because of the word "since". Since tells you that there should be some follow up information about the dog running fast. Since the dog runs fast, she must always be on a leash.

According to "The Philosophy of Composition," why did Poe choose "nevermore" as the refrain in "The Raven"?
Dovator [93]

The correct answer is C. Because it is one of the few words a raven can say. The speaker, a man who grieves for his deceased love, Lenore, has been visited by a talking bird who only know one word: Nevermore. He was so depressed of having lost his love that he allows his imagination to transform the bird into a prophet bringing news that the lovers will "Nevermore" be together.
