Citric acid cycle begins with the entry of 2 carbon compound acetyl Coenzyme A (CoA). In one turn of the cycle, one molecule of acetyl CoA enters into the cycle. On completion of one turn of  citric acid cycle, two molecules of carbon dioxide, 3 molecules of reduced NADH and one molecule of reduced FADH₂ and 1 molecule of GTP are produced.
