What is meant by the allusion "of a truth, friend, that matter remaineth a riddle; and the daniel who shall expound it
Snowcat [4.5K]

The allusion in the scarlet letter refers to Daniel a wise biblical prophet. The speaker in that excerpt expected the reader to know this information that Daniel had the gift of answering difficult riddles and interpreting dreams.

What is an Allusion?

In literature, an allusion is an indirect reference to a person, event, or thing, as well as a section of another text.

The majority of allusions are founded on the premise that the reader is in the know about an idea that is commonplace and that the reader would grasp the author's reference thereby.

which one of the following sentences is written in the active voice? A. accidents are considered by most people as unavoidable.
Mumz [18]

B. few people think seriously of doing something about accidents.

There are two main things to keep in mind when trying to determine whether a sentence is written in the passive voice or if it is written in the active voice. First, passive voice is when the subject has the action done to it, and active voice is when the subject does the action. Second, passive voice will always have linking/helping verbs. That said, answers, “A,” “C,” and “D” have the action being done to the subject, and all three have linking/helping verbs in the form of “are” and “be.” “B” is the only answer where the subject (in this case, “people”) is doing the action of “think” and has not linking/helping verbs.
