What is ironic about the following passage from narrative of the life of fredrick Douglass in 1832
WINSTONCH [101]

Answer: His master is crueler after finding religion than he was before.

Explanation:

Douglas considered his master as a cruel man. His master once went out for a christian camp meeting and in the course of the meeting, he surrendered his life to Christ. Due to this, Douglass hoped that this religious transformation would result in his master being less cruel toward his slaves, and this didn't turn out to be the case, rather the master became more cruel.

This is an irony, because Douglass experienced the opposite of his expectation. An irony is the expression of one's meaning by the use of language which normally signifies the opposite, usually for emphatic or humorous effect.

Analyze the technologies that have allowed humans to survive and thrive in Mexico City.
Stels [109]

Humans have survived and thrived in Mexico City by using technology to create greater access to land. When the Spanish conquered the Aztec capital, Tenochtitlan, in the 16th century, they built Mexico City by draining the lakes and filling in the lake water to create more arable land for agriculture. This technique of land reclamation has continued to be fundamental to human civilization in Mexico City. The construction of canals and tunnels to transport water out of the valley also has supported land reclamation. The construction of Chinampas, artificial islands to grow food and hillside terraces for water storage and agriculture, is an additional innovative technique that has created more productive land that allows for human survival.
