Answer: 3, then 5/8, then, -2.9, and finally -4.

Step-by-step explanation:

3 is the biggest positive integer in value, so that one is automatically first.

5/8 is the second-biggest positive number in value. It isn't a full number, considering it is a fraction, but it is a positive number nonetheless so that makes it larger in value than the last two:

-2.9 is the third-largest integer in value, leaving -4 as the smallest number in this sequence. I know, I know, you're probably like "but 4 is bigger than 2.9." Let me explain the logistics behind this.

When figuring out which number is larger and which is smaller with negative integers, you go by how far they are from 0 on a number line. -2.9 is 2.9 places from zero on a number line. This is called absolute value. Absolute value is defined as "how far a number is on a number line from zero." The absolute value of -4 is 4. (Absolute value is ALWAYS positive). As you can see from this simple observation, -4 is farther from -2.9 on a number line and is therefore less than -2.9. Using the absolute values of negative integers, classifying them from least to greatest or greatest to least is fairly easy. Hopefully this helped. :)

A computer chip manufacturer made 270,000 chips last week. If 8% of them were defective, how many defective chips were made?
Alina [70]

Number of defective chips = 8% of 270,000

                                             = \frac{8}{100} x 270000

                                             = 8 x 2700

                                             = 21,600

Thus, 21,600 defective chips were made.

Shalnov [3]

Answer:176 psychology textbooks and 98 Biology textbooks were sold.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x represent the number of psychology textbooks that were sold.

Let y represent the number of biology textbooks that were sold.

textbook store sold a combined total of 274 psychology and biology textbooks in a week. This means that

x + y = 274 - - - - - - - - - - -1

The number of psychology textbooks sold was 78 more than the number of biology textbooks sold. This means that

x = y + 78

Substituting x = y + 78 into equation 1, it becomes

y + 78 + y = 274

2y = 274 - 78

2y = 196

y = 98

x = y + 78 = 98 + 78

x = 176

The perimeter of a school gym is 522 feet. The gym measures 80 feet wide. Determine the length of the school. PLEASE EXPLAIN THE
lidiya [134]
Total perimeter is 522 ft. I will guess the gym is a big rectangle.

Therefore, Perimeter of a rectangle = 2L + 2W
P= 2L+ 2W

We know 80 ft wide. so now we plug and chug the equation we came up with

P=522 ft
P=2L+ 2(80)

522=2L+ 160

L= 181

hope that helps
