The distance on the number line from -10 to -2 equals 5x – 12. What is the value of x?

Mathematics

Troyanec [42]3 years ago
4 0

It would be: - 2 - (-10) = 5x - 12

= -2 + 10 = 5x - 12

= 8 + 12 = 5x

= x = 20 / 5

= x = 4

What is the solution to the following system of equations? 3x-2y=12 and 6x-4y=24
Tems11 [23]
Multiplying the first equation by -2 results in -6x + 4y = -24.
Adding this result to the second equation:

<span>6x-4y=24
</span>-6x + 4y = -24
------------------
           0  = 0

There are an infinite number of solutions, since the 2 given equations represent collinear lines.

To find the distance across the river, the given diagram is laid out. what is the distance rounded to the nearest meter?
kati45 [8]

Given:

Angle A = 18.6°

Angle B = 93°

Length of side AB = 646 meters

To find:

the distance across the river, distance between BC

Steps:

Since we know the measure of 2 angles of a triangle we can find the measure of the third angle.

18.6° + 93° + ∠C = 180°

        111.6° + ∠C = 180°

                    ∠C = 180° - 111.6°

                    ∠C = 68.4°

Therefore the measure of angle C is 68.4°.

now we can use the law of Sines,

\frac{BC}{sinA}=\frac{AB}{SinC}

\frac{BC}{sin(18.6)}= \frac{646}{sin(68.4)}

BC[sin(68.4)] = 646 [sin(18.6)]

BC = \frac{646*sin(18.6)}{sin(68.4)}

BC = \frac{646 * 0.3190}{0.9298}

BC = 221.63

BC = 222 meters

Therefore, the distance across the river is 222 meters.

the washer is made from a disk of metal that has a mass of 41.7 g. A hole is stamped in the disk and 20.2 g of metal was removed
gtnhenbr [62]
So you would do 41.7g - 20.2g and get 21.5g, then multiply it by 140g. 140g x 21.5g = 3010g
