For the first one to find the total area you have to first find the area of the triangle 1/2(10x12.5)=62.5 and then the square (13.4x12.5)=167.5 which is 10468.75 totaled

Problem 2

Answer: 230 square meters

------------

Work Shown:

Area of triangle = 0.5*base*height

Area of triangle = 0.5*10*12.5

Area of triangle = 62.5

Area of rectangle = base*height

Area of rectangle = 13.4*12.5

Area of rectangle = 167.5

Total area = (area of triangle)+(area of rectangle)

Total area = 62.5+167.5

Total area = 230 square mm

As an alternative, you can use the trapezoid formula to get the same answer.

Problem 3

Answer: 200 square mm

------------

Work Shown:

A = area of smaller square

A = side*side

A = 5*5

A = 25 square mm

B = area of larger square

B = side*side

B = 15*15

B = 225 square mm

C = area of shaded region

C = B - A

C = 225 - 25

C = 200
