\text{Hey there!}

\mathsf{The\ formula\ is: A=\dfrac{1}{2}(b)(h)}

\mathsf{A=area}\\\mathsf{b= base}\\\mathsf{h=height}

\mathsf{8\dfrac{1}{2}=8\times2+1=16+1=17}

\mathsf{17\ is\ your\ numerator}

\mathsf{2\ is\ your\ denominator}

\mathsf{\dfrac{17}{2}=17\div2=8.5}

\mathsf{Your\ new\ equation: \dfrac{1}{2}(8.5)(6)}

\mathsf{\dfrac{1}{2}(8.5)(6)}\\\\\\\mathsf{\dfrac{1}{2}(8.5)=4.25}\\\\\\\mathsf{4.25(6)=25.5}\\\\\boxed{\boxed{\mathsf{Thus,\ your\ answer\ is: \boxed{25.5\ or\ you\ can\ say\ \dfrac{51}{2}}}}}}\checkmark

M - 1 = 2 what do I need to do to solve.
andreyandreev [35.5K]

In order to solve this, start by adding 1 to both sides of the equation.

m-1=2

+1 +1

-----------

m=3

The solution to your equation is 3.

You can also check to see if this is true by replacing m with 3.

m-1=2

3-1=2

To convert a quadratic from y = ax2 + bx + c form to vertex form, y = a(x - h)2+ k, you use the process of completing the square
ladessa [460]
Since we will be completing the square we need to isolate the x

y-5 = 2x^2 -4x

now we the coefficient of the x^2 to equal 1 so we take 2 as common factor

y-5 = 2(x^2 -2x)

now we'll make it perfect square by adding 2 to both sides

y-5+2=2(x^2-2x+1)

now simplify and convert the right side to squared expression

y-3 = 2(x-1)^2

now isolate the y

y = 2(x-1)^2 +3   that's it
