2x=12
divide both sides by 2
2x/2 = 12/2
  x = 6


2) If x=10, what is x+2x+7?

10 + 2(10) + 7 = 10 + 20 + 7 = 37

3) A petting zoo always brings 5 goats to a birthday party. They also bring two chickens per guest. If there are 20 guests, how many animals in total will be brought?

two chickens per guest and there are 20 guests
so 2 x 20 = 40 (40 chicken for 20 guests)

40 chicken + 5 goats = 45 animals

1) if 2x=12
so x=12/2
=6
2) if x=10
then x+2x+7
=10+(2×10)+7
=10+20+7
=37
3) it will be
5+(2×20)
=5+40
=45
