What is an ordered pair

Mathematics
2 answers:
True [87]3 years ago

An ordered pair is defined as any pair of numbers for which order is important. Clearly the order of coordinates for a given point is very important for example (5,2) and (2, 5) represent two very different points on a coordinate system. As shown in the image attached. Therefore, a given point such as (5,2), is often referred to as an ordered pair.

"In mathematics, an ordered pair is a pair of objects. The order in which the objects appear in the pair is significant: the ordered pair is different from the ordered pair unless a = b. Ordered pairs are also called 2-tuples, or sequences of length 2; ordered pairs of scalars are also called 2-dimensional vectors."

State the Pythagorean Theorem and how would you use it to find a missing side or missing hypotenuse of a right triangle.
Mila [183]

Answer:

Pythagorean Theorem: A² + B² = C²

You would use it to find a missing side or missing hypotenuse of a right triangle by pluggin in all of the known values of the triangle into the equation and then solving it.

Step-by-step explanation:

C² is the hypotenuse of the triangle (the longest side, and the side that is opposite the right angle).

A² and B² are the remaining two sides.

PLEASE HELP AS SOON AS POSSIBLE PLEASE SHOW WORK AND HELP ME UNDERSTAND ASAP WILL GIVE BRAINLIEST
Ivenika [448]

Answer:

y = 2x + 8

Step-by-step explanation:

Recall that two parallel lines have the same slope.

Thus, if we begin with y = 2x - 4, we know that this new line through (-1, 6) will also have slope 2.

Starting from the slope-intercept form y = mx + b, we substitute 2 for m, -1 for x and 6 for y:

6 = 2(-1) + b

and solve for the new y-intercept, b:

6 = -2 + b, or

b = 8

Then the new line has the equation y = 2x + 8
