Because the cells in the body are in a state of starvation, how does the body compensate to maintain homeostasis

Biology

The plasma levels of fatty acids and ketone bodies increase in starvation, whereas that of glucose decreases. The metabolic changes on the first day of starvation are like those after an overnight fast. The low blood-sugar level leads to decreased secretion of insulin and increased secretion of glucagon.

Find the mean, median, and mode of the following list of values. Round to the nearest tenth if necessary.
grin007 [14]

Answer:

D.

Mean: 24.8

Median: 26

Mode: 26

Explanation:

The mean is the average. To find the average, add up all the numbers and divide by the amount of numbers there are.

30 + 26 + 25 + 11 + 34 + 20 + 26 + 26 = 198

Now, we divide by how many numbers we started out with (8).

198 divided by 8 = 24.75, rounded would be 24.8

To find the median, you arrange the numbers from smallest to largest, and find the middle number like this:

11, 20, 25, 26, 26, 26, 30, 34

As you can see, the middle number is 26.

To find the mode, you arrange the number from smallest to largest, and find the number that appears more often.

11, 20, 25, 26, 26, 26, 30, 34

As you can see, the number 26 appears the most often.

So, we end up with:

Mean: 24.8

Median: 26

Mode: 26

Muscles that move the eyeball have ________ fibers.
ozzi

Muscles which are responsible for the movement of the eyeball have fast fibers. Thus, the correct option is A.

What are fast muscle fibers?

Fast-twitch muscle fibers are the muscle fibers which provide bigger and more powerful forces, however for shorter durations and fatigue quickly. They are more anaerobic with less blood supply, and hence are sometimes also referred to as white fibers or type II fibers.

Fast-twitch muscle fibers are activated by the high intensity movements which are sustained in short bursts. Examples of movements include sprints, burpees, and quick lateral movements.

Therefore, the correct option is A.

The inner ear consists of the bony labyrinth and the membranous labyrinth, it is filled of endophilia and surrounded by perinfilia (the bony labyrinth surrounds the membranous, between both there is a space occupied by the perilymph). Perilymph is an albuminous fluid that has an ionic composition similar to the extracellular environment, it bathes the tympanic and vestibular ramps, fully occupying the bony cavities of the inner ear, bathing the membranous parts located inside these cavities.
