Answer:

The value of y is 3 cm.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

Perimeter of triangle = 29\ cm

Solution,

Lets redraw the triangle with nomenclature ABC, given in the attachment.

∴P(ΔABC) = 29 cm  (P stands for perimeter)

Length of AB = y+9

Length of BC = 2y

Length of CA = 4y-1

Now, we all know that the perimeter of a triangle is sum of all the three sides of triangle.

P(ΔABC) = Length of AB+Length of BC+Length of CA

On substituting the values, we get;

(y+9)+2y+(4y-1)=29\\y+2y+4y+9-1=29\\7y+8=29\\7y=29-8\\7y=21\\y=\frac{21}{7} =3\ cm

Length of AB =y+9=3+9=12\ cm

Length of BC =2y=2\times3=6\ cm

Length of CA =4y-1=4\times3-1=12-1=11\ cm

Hence the value of y is 3 cm.

11. What other information do you need to prove the triangles congruent using the AAS Congruence Postulate?
Nat2105 [25]
From the diagram, we are given that triangle ABC and triangle ADC shares the same side AC, so it means both triangles have one congruent side.

 We are also given that angle BAC and angle DAC are equal.

If we want to prove the triangles congruent using Angle-Angle-Side congruent postulate, we need to see one angle in each triangle that is congruent. We will need the information either: ACB = ACD or ABC = ADC

Correct answer: fourth option

Question: Mai had $14.50. She spent $4.35 at the snack bar and $5.25 at the arcade. What is the exact amount of money Mai has left?

Answer: $4.90

Steps: Step 1: Find operation: The operation in this problem is subtraction because words such as "spent" means that she used money, meaning we subtract.

Step 2: Figure out order of numbers: Now that we know that the operation is subtraction, we need to know what numbers to subtract. The problem says that Mai had $14.50, which means that this is the total amount of money she had when she started. Spent means that Mai used money, so this means that we subtract like this: $14.50-$4.35-$5.25.

Step 3: Subtract: Now that we know what operation to use, and what order to use the numbers, we can finish the problem:

<h2>                   $14.90</h2><h2>            -      $  4.35</h2><h2>           -------------------</h2><h2>                    $10.15</h2><h2>              -    $  5.25</h2><h2>           --------------------</h2><h2>                      $4.90 </h2>

Question: Kristina rides her bicycle 384.25 miles over 29 weeks to and from her job. How many miles does she ride each week to and from her job if she rides the same amount each week?

Answer: 13.25

Steps: 1: Find operation: To solve this question, we need to find the operation. Words such as "same amount each week" mean that this is division.

Step 2: Figure out order of numbers: Now, we need to figure out what to divide by. We divide 384.25 by 29 because it say that she rides 384.25 miles over 29 weeks.

Step 3: Divide: Now, we will solve the equation: 384.25 divided by 29 is 13.25, so the answer is 13.25.

Hope this helps you!

P.s. Sorry I could not show how to divide 384.25 by 29.

To find the product of (−2√20k)(5√8k3), first write using a single radical. Which expression is equivalent to the given product?
ad-work [718]

Answer:

Assuming the variable is included under the radical,

-40k²√(10)

Step-by-step explanation:

(-2\sqrt{20k})(5\sqrt{8k^3})

First we will simplify the first factor,

-2\sqrt{20k}

We will write 20 as a product of factors:

-2\sqrt{4*5k}

We know the square root of 2 is 2, so we pull a 2 out:

-2(2)\sqrt{5k}\\\\=-4\sqrt{5k}

Now we will simplify the second factor,

5\sqrt{8k^3}

We will rewrite 8 as a product of factors, as well as the variable:

5\sqrt{2*4*k^2*k}

The square root of 2 is 2, so we pull a 2 out.  Additionally, the square root of k² is k, so we pull that out:

5(2)(k)\sqrt{2k}\\\\=10k\sqrt{2k}

This gives us the product

(-4\sqrt{5k})(10k\sqrt{2k})

Multiplying the coefficients, we have

-4(10k)(\sqrt{5k})(\sqrt{2k})\\\\=-40k(\sqrt{5k})(\sqrt{2k})

Multiplying the two radicals, we have

-40k\sqrt{5k*2k}\\\\-40k\sqrt{10k^2}

The square root of k² is k, so we pull a k out, leaving

-40k(k)\sqrt{10}\\\\=-40k^2\sqrt{10}
