Wilson went on to lead what was at the time the largest war-mobilization effort in the country’s history. At first, Wilson asked only for Volunteer Soldiers, but soon realized voluntary enlistment would not raise a sufficient number of troops and signed The Selective Service Act in May 1917. The Selective Service Act required men between 21 and 35 years of age to register for the draft, increasing the size of the army from 200,000 troops to 4 million by the end of the war. One of the infantrymen who volunteered for active duty was future President Harry S. Truman.

Why was Franklin d roosevelt considered one of the best leaders
lina2011 [118]
F.D.R. has been renowned as having been one of our best Presidents, in part, due to his creation of many federal programs designed to help Americans survive the harshness of the great economic depression of the 1930s.
His slew of economic relief programs, later termed "alphabet soup," had many acronyms, hence the nickname. One if the most important of these, still in use today, is the S.S.A. or the social security administration. Social security is still in use today, and our individual SSNs have become a primary form of identification.

What major ideological conflicts, security interests, and events brought about the Cold War?
Ymorist [56]
There were several causes that lead to the Cold War. The most important ideological conflict was that the Soviets believed in Communism and rest of the worl including United States of America disliked Communism. Soviets were against capitalism and the Americans were in favor of capitalism. The Soviets were also afraid of the nuclear bombs that United States possessed during that time and it was a grave security concern for the Soviets.

How did american nationalism spark the growing conflict between the state right and federal rights
Anit [1.1K]

Answer:

basically the Monroe doctrine declared that America was in opposition of European interference in the Americas.

Explanation:

the Monroe doctrine was definitely driven by American nationalism and this doctrine had big impacts on how the war ran its course, it probably actually would have caused the union(American government) to lose the war, but the south was looking for help from European countries and they tried making agreements that slave trade would continue in the Americas if the south defeated the north, this was big motivation for European countries to help and was a very dangerous thing to the north because they essentially would have had to fight on two fronts, so this caused the growth of the tension to rapidly increase. At least from what my text book tells me.
