Notice the first picture here
to get the height of the box, or triangular prism,
you need to find the "altitude" of the triangle,
and for that, you can simply use the pythagorean theorem,
notice, as 17 is the slanted or hypotenuse side,
and 8 is the base, or half 16

now, how much cardboard? meaning, how much is the
surface are of that triangular prism
notice the 2nd picture here

the prism is really just 3 rectangles and 2 triangles,
stacked up at each other at the edges, so
split them up, find their independent areas,
recall area of a triange = 1/2 b*h
and them SUM them up

and that's the surface area of that triangular prism,
and thus the box, and that's how much cardboard
was used

What is the answer 4+3x = -2y
lilavasa [31]
First add 2y to both sides
so 4 + 3x + 2y = 0
then subtract 4 from both sides
so 3x + 2y = -4
that is standard form
now subtract 3x from both sides
2y = 3x - 4
now divide by 2 on both sides
y = 1.5x - 2
This is solved for y and is slope intercept form
starting from original subtract 4 from both sides
so 3x = -2x -4
now divide by 3 on both sides
so x = -2/3x -4/3
this is solved for x
hope any of that is what you needed.

A dairy needs 325 gallons of milk containing 5% butterfat. How many gallons each of milk containing 6% butterfat and milk contai
zubka84 [21]

The amount of milk containing 6% butterfat and 1% butterfat are 260 gallons and 65 gallons respectively.

Explanation

Suppose, the amount of milk containing 6% butterfat is x gallons

As the amount of mixture of milk should be 325 gallons, so the amount of milk containing 1% butterfat will be: (325-x) gallons

Given that, the mixture of milk is containing 5% butterfat. So, the equation will be....

0.06x+0.01(325-x)=0.05*325\\ \\ 0.06x+3.25-0.01x=16.25\\ \\ 0.05x= 13\\ \\ x= \frac{13}{0.05}=260

So, the amount of milk containing 6% butterfat is 260 gallons and the amount of milk containing 1% butterfat is (325-260) gallons = 65 gallons.
