Large transportation systems such as the First Transcontinental Railroad constructed between 1863 and 1869 made the <em>transport of goods and products </em>made by companies and industries much more efficient. These products could be transported by land in <em>less time</em> and it was <em>cheaper</em> than transport by water. Products could be transported across large regions in the United States (from west to east) thanks to large transportation systems like this and be traded with other nations. Increase in trade would result in increase of wealth and international connections. The construction of these systems was also possible thanks to the growing Steel Industry.
